I'm not amazing at Mega Man games, but I still got As on every stage in MMZ2/3/4. Also in MMZ2/3/4, the ranking is a LOT more lenient - you can take over a full life bar's worth of damage and end up with 12/15 for damage. In MMZ2/3/4, A rank and above gives you the bosses' EX attacks, which are fun and useful. Oh, and re: ranks - don't worry about them in MMZ1, I don't think they do anything. MMZ4 is an okay, but slightly unnecessary epilogue to the series. MMZ3 is my favorite of the series due to the climax, but MMZ2/3 feel like one extra-long, extra-awesome Mega Man game. It's got the classic stage select format, and it's far more balanced in terms of difficulty. If you don't like MMZ1, OP, go straight to MMZ2. I played MMZ before MM classic and MMX, and both of those games feel slow as molasses compared to the mobility you have in MMZ. In fact, it's my favorite Mega Man series simply because of how good the controls are. MMZ1 is the worst of the series in a lot of respects, mainly the mission structure, but it's still fun as hell due to how fluid the action is. It's practically at odds with the source material. Again MMZ art direction is just so unrepresentative of what the character and the series is about. What does that even remotely have to do with a robot who is most effective killer in the world? Zero isn't gentle he's ruthless. Zero would NEVER be sleeping in a bed of flowers, EVER. Nice Edit removing that Zero in the flowers picture which exactly proves my point. MMZ despite all being very fun games have the worst art direction of any MegaMan game. It's the worst kind of redesign, it ignores the history and source material and instead just chooses hit early 2000s video game cliche check list. Him and Ciel look extremely similar for not reason. Nothing in MMZ redesign reflects anything about the character itself. His original design is that of a robot in armor, a warrior.

Zero was a robot designed to to kill anything and everything. Unnecessary clothing and accessories that don't fit the character, and androgyny for no reason.
